Couldn't put it down

I'm about 20 pages away from finishing this book. It is a great story. I am already sad that the story will be ending soon.

Buy This Book

I loved this book. It was hard to put down. You get pulled into the story very quickly. I will keep it on my book shelf and read it again some day.

an amazing novel

I found this to be such a good read. The characterization was magnificent! The tale was so intrigueing, and I stayed up into the night-I had to find out what happened next.

I loved the description, also. It was so good-I could place myself in the story. The author described everything thoroughly-to an exactness of storytelling. There was not any vagueness-all was crystal clear.

I would strongly recommend this book, and I will read the author's next work.

One of the Best Books I've Read in Long Time!

I purchased this book after being told by many people that it was awesome. I began reading it and declared it the most boring book I'd ever read. I was told to be patient, that it got better, and boy did it!

Be patient through the first 20 pages or so and then you will have a book you cannot put down!!!

It's a book that will stay on my shelf and I will read again and again. I look forward to future works from this author.

Nice Surprises

This was a strange book for me. When I was reading it, I couldn't put it down. But when I stepped away, I wasn't compelled to pick it back up. Because I do read quite often, I still finished it very quickly. I just found the paradox interesting.

I found myself relating to Margaret with respect to her love of books. Even now, I can find myself staying up until 3am on a work night reading a book. What's a little sleep compared to a great book?

Because I do read so much, I tend to see a lot of story lines coming. This story was nice because I couldn't even begin to imagine where things were going. And I loved that!

Sometimes, when you open the door to thepast, what you confront is your destiny.

Reclusive author Vida Winter, famous for her collection of twelve enchantingstories, has spent the past six decades penning a series of alternate livesfor herself. Now old and ailing, she is ready to reveal the truth about herextraordinary existence and the violent and tragic past she has kept secret forso long. Calling on Margaret Lea, a young biographer troubled by her ownpainful history, Vida disinters the life she meant to bury for good. Margaret ismesmerized by the author's tale of gothic strangeness -- featuring the beautifuland willful Isabelle, the feral twins Adeline and Emmeline, a ghost, a governess,a topiary garden and a devastating fire. Together, Margaret and Vida confront the ghosts that have haunted them while becoming, finally, transformed by the truth themselves.
