A bit tough at points

The book is a bit tough in some parts, but overall (from a non-expert standpoint) its a great source of information. E.O. James devotes a little bit more time to Egyptian and Semitic mythology than the Greek/Roman mythology, but that was actually a little refreshing.

The product details don't mention one highly salient fact: The book is copyright 1960.

So far I've read only the intro, in which the author talks of careful balancing and judgment considering the controversies in the area, which leaves me worried even more than before: A lot can be learned and unlearned in 40+ years of science. Is this work still authoritative and worth republishing? or is somebody just making a quick buck with a good-looking cover, a great title, but an outmoded text with suspect identifications of its visual materials?
