Lakeshore Chronicles

This is the latest in a series that is worth the time. You'll love the characters. I can't wait for the next one!

Another Winner!

The third in the Lakeside Chronicles was the story of Greg and Nina, both past and present. They'd loved each other subconsciously for most of the lives but it wasn't until Greg returned to Willow Lake after his divorce that they acted on it consciously. This was a very good book, with a sweet love story and I enjoy Susan Wiggs's writing.

What I didn't like about this book was that their relationship was wrapped up in a few pages. And I've counted thus far in this series 4 unplanned, teenage pregnancies. Perhaps something is in the lake that makes them forget the existence of condoms and birth control?

I've really enjoyed this series but I won't be reading "Snowfall at Willow Lake" because I detest Sophie and the book is about her. If anyone could make an unlikable character likeable Susan Wiggs could but I'll still pass.

I highly recommend Susan Wiggs "The Ocean Between Us".

Dockside

I have had Dockside for awhile and started it several times. I have read all the other Lakeside books but for some reason couldn't get into this one. I liked Nina in the other books but simply didn't find her so likable in this one. The tension between Greg and Nina just goes on and on with not much else going on and I just found it boring. I finally skimmed through it to get it finished. The romances in the series are pretty much alike so pretty predictable. I was hoping for something a little different in this one. The couple gets together-are really in love but won't admit that to anyone of course-sexual tension-someone or both get angry and that's the end of that relationship-oh only to get back together at the end. Big Surprise! A little mystery or villian might have perked it up a bit. I have liked the rest of the series but think I will stop with this one.

With her daughter grown and flown, Nina Romano is ready to embark on a new adventure. She's waited a long time for dating, travel and chasing dreams. But just as she's beginning to enjoy being on her own, she finds herself falling for Greg Bellamy, owner of the charming Inn at Willow Lake and a single father with two kids of his own.

Greg lost his first marriage to a demanding career. Now he's determined to make a new start before it's too late. Juggling work, raising his young son and helping his nearly grown daughter face life's ultimate challenge, he has no time to fall in love. Still, with Nina Romano, love feels just right this time around.
