A must read for singles that never have sucess in dating!
A very Christan based book on
dating
in the new era. A return to basics and being moralistic when it comes to courtship. I am presently applying this principle at dating at age 40! wish I had read it at age 20! Maybe I would not have spent 9 years married to an incompatible jerk. It seems to be working and I am having fun dating just as friends and really getting to know someone without the pressure of getting physical. If the guy does not believe in these moral principles then he is not worth my time. Thanks for such an insightful book that I plan on using as a stocking stuffer for all my still single girlfriends.

A must-read for quality young people!
I had to read this book, the 10
Commandments
of
Dating
, for a college psychology class recently, and it was such a good use of my time! The authors don't beat around the bush--they say it like it is, which makes for a very insightful and comical read. If every person my age would read this book, I think there would be a lot less broken hearts, before AND after marriage. Find out for yourself! I am certainly putting the commandments to use already.

My favorite book on relationships.
"10
Commandments
of
Dating
" is my favorite book on dating/relationships. It teaches you the basics from Getting a Life & be ready for others to finding the right one with confidence. Best of all, each chapter is short and concise, making them fun and interesting. Every chapter also includes pros & cons and what to do if you already break the commandment. These 'commandments' all seems like common sense and self-explanatory but the truth is, when someone is in "love", nothing can get in his/her ways, so their judgement is clouded, making them regret later on in life.
Honestly in my opinion, it's better to stop or slow down your current relationship and start reading this book before you are clear and sure to move on. You may find your current partner incompatible even though both of you claimed to be, "in love" with one another. In short, this book basically serves as warning signs, checklists, guidelines and self-help that will guaranteed success in dating.
If you learn nothing from this book, then either you're a genius and should be proud of yourself for being perfect or you're just denying your own mistakes, which is foolish by itself. All in all, this book is excellent and a must read. Even though the author Ben Young is a Christian, he doesn't talk much about theology or Christian beliefs that often, so even non-religious people can read it with ease, without being offended. The bottomline is, this book is worth every penny, every second and every effort reading it. I finished it in less than two days. It's THAT good! Almost every page is highlighted that it looks like a yellow Post-It. The only string attached is, you must practice and obey these commandments to your life in order to have successful relationships. There may be exceptions here or there, but 99.9% of times, you will succeed.
Two of my other favorite books are: "If You Really Loved Me" by Jason Evert and "Waiting and Dating" by Myles Munroe. Hope this helps! Good luck!

The best dating book
A friend loaned me this book when I was single and I could not have been more thankful to her! This is really an easy read and a gives you a little internal soul searching and changes that need to happen in your life for God's best to come to you.
Dating God's Way
Ben Young (M.Div., currently directs one of the country's largest singles ministries and also hosts the national radio show, "The Single Connection") and Dr. Samuel Adams (Psy.D., a licensed psychologist) have teamed up to produce a compelling, truthful, biblically based self-help treatise to help singles navigate the often murky waters of
dating
. "The 10
Commandments
of Dating" is a direct, sometimes harsh (as truth can be) guidebook that stresses how to make the dating period a time of discernment so you can choose your marriage partner wisely - "Commandment Ten: thou shalt choose wisely."
Christians and non-Christians will surely benefit from the common sense that flows page after page. It has become painfully obvious that common sense is not so common as the divorce rate hovers above 50%. Bullet point summaries at the end of each chapter are quite concise and lucid in compressing the chapter's message of why the aforementioned commandment is important to follow.
"Commandment Four: thou shall take it slow" is an often difficult one to obey in our want-it-done-yesterday New York City minute culture. But true love like vintage wine does take time. The authors Young and Adams provide the effective metaphor of bonding your relationship to the act of building a toy model car. "First, build the engine; then wait a day for it to dry. Next, build the chassis, and wait another day for it to dry. After that, add the wheels and then glue the parts together." You can guess what the next step would be. The process of building a toy model car like building a relationship takes time for the various pieces to bond appropriately. But what happens when we do not delay gratification and "give the glue enough time to dry"? One consequence could be, "You risk entering into a marriage and then one day waking up to see a stranger lying beside you."
"The 10 Commandments of Dating" does not shy away from tackling issues such as living together before marriage ("Commandment Seven: thou shalt not play house") or pre-marital sex ("Commandment Six: thou shalt save sex for later). This slim tome will inevitably raise objections, denial, anger and a host of varied responses as one's "truth" shall be tested and perhaps (if one is honest) exposed as a lie. Following the apologetic's instructions will save singles from pain and heartache. But it will also encourage you to sow correctly during your dating season and therefore reap the blessings of a compatible mate thanks to following God's immutable laws as clearly expounded by Adams and Young.
