Cheap must also be effective

This book spends a lot of time saying that this or that can be done for $0. Unfortunately e-learning is not only a function of content. The author gives some excellent examples of inexpensive and memorable e-leaning projects developed at minimum cost but then also includes items which should be called e-reference rather than e-learning. Perhaps, searching a Word or PDF document for a particular term, falls within her preferred definition of e-learning which is "anything designed to improve work performance delivered by any electronic means" but so also would threatening emails and abusive telephone calls. Effective e-leaning requires a cocktail of the memorable and the motivational and is unlikely to be just anything. However a lot of good resources and references but just a tad too much on the use of Word, Power Point (and similar) and nothing at all on inexpensive programs like Captivate

Liberating!

For years I've been trying to employ e-learning in my workplace, but the outrageous costs have always been a problem. The author shows absolutely dozens of ways to save money on e-learning projects, and offers very useful tips to use if you decide to work with vendors. I had no idea so much could be done with so little. This was an excellent investment!

This book is a great resource for the working trainer who doesn't want or need to spend thousands of dollars for training when the tools they have will do the job just as well. Thanks to Ms. Bozarth's advice, I have been able to create great training that is cost-effective and works even better than the more expensive solutions.
