Great Book But A Little Advanced For My Little One

I got this book when my daughter was 18 months old and she didn't seem to understand a lot of it. 4 months have passed now and she enjoys it much more especially the drum page - she is always doing the drum chant! There are still some things that seem to confuse her like a page where the boy is dreaming of chicks but she does like the book and she gets the overall idea of it. It really is a good book but I would recommend it for a slightly older child.

Great book for smaller kids!

I bought this book for my 2 year old twins to help them understand that we're having a new baby. I loved the little boy in the story (especially the songs he sings to the baby in order to get it to come out of his mom's tummy!) and it was very well written for the audience.

To help toddlers and pre-schoolers to wait!!!

I have read this book with the my twin boys (4 years) since I am in my second trimester. I think this book makes them asking question freely esp. that they feel that they are not alone in their feelings about their mom's pregnancy.

It is nothing to do with baby at all. Just about "waiting" for him/her. May be this is the only negative point about it.

Max does everything he can think of to encourage his new sibling to be born. He talks to his mommy's tummy, sings to it, plays his drum for it, but nothing seems to work. Max is convinced that this baby will never arrive ... until the day finally comes when Daddy takes Mommy to the hospital.

Harriet Ziefert has written a delightful story about the anticipation of a new arrival. Expectant parents will want to read it with their children, and soon-to-be older siblings are sure to identify with Max. Best of all, there's a gift in the back of the book for the big brother or sister to give to the new baby: a nursery door hanger with two important messages: "Shhhh! Baby sleeping" and "Come in! Baby awake."
