Mom's best friend

What a wonderful guidebook for a mother. When it comes to raising daughters, this book is an excellent accompaniment to our number one guidebook......the Bible. I especially like to the list of character traits to pray over my daughters with accompanying scriptures for each day of the month (p.173).

If you have a daughter, you absolutely need this book!

Because of this book, I am now a HUGE Vicki Courtney fan. I bought this book and read it cover to cover when my oldest was in the fourth grade. Now she has begun middle school and I am so glad that I can refer back to this over and over again. The chapter "Passing Down the Formula for True Self-Worth" is perfectly and expertly written for helping our girls with peer pressure and self-image. Vicki says that "true self-worth can only be found by examining who we are in Jesus Christ." While the world looks on the outside, God is more concerned with the heart.
In addition, if you ever get the opportunity to go to one of Vicki's conferences, you MUST! And take your daughter(s) with you! I took both of my daughters to an all-day event and we had a blast. You will laugh and cry and your daughters will know how much you care about them by dedicating a full day to their futures. You will not be disappointed!

AWESOME--Must read Moms!!

This book is wonderful--for Christian and non-Christian moms. We have a serious job to do ladies raising our girls and Vicki Courtney reminds us not to take our job lightly. What a wonderful book and gift this would be for ANY mom with a girl ANY age.

Great book for Christian moms!

A nationally-recognized speaker to moms and their daughters, Vicki Courtney's book Your Girl is a must-read for Christian moms (and dads who want to understand their daughters better). Courtney doesn't pull any punches with this book - straight-forward, easy to read and firmly grounded in Scripture, she expects Christian parents to raise children who love God, serve others, and stand firm in the face of temptation and opposition. Courtney is aware and honest about the prevailing culture against which this book and these ideals run - and she's aware that the odds are stacked against Christian parents; but she is unrelenting in her zeal to encourage parents that they can make a difference in the lives of their children...and they must!

Courtney deals directly with the issues of self-worth and counters the world's message that a woman's worth comes from her image or her ability. She tackles the issue of modesty, dating and sex with clear and concise chapters that raise the standard from conforming with the culture to transforming the culture for Christ. And Courtney doesn't simply push the burden of making good decisions on the girls; she addresses the parents as well holding them responsible for what happens in their own homes!

Vicki Courtney has also authored a number of other books for moms and teenage girls and if they are as good as this one, I can already recommend them without even reading them myself! I will strongly encourage Christian moms to read Your Girl - I know they will be encouraged and empowered to raise godly children in an ungodly world!

Vicki Courtney is someone who is "in the trenches" of ministry to preteen and teen girls (not to mention their mothers). She has seen firsthand the devastating consequences our provocative culture is having on women, both young and old.

Your Girl addresses the negative influences facing young women in today?s culture and what mothers can do to counteract the cultural influences and raise Godly daughters. Vicki Courtney addresses the times our daughters live in, the high calling of motherhood, and the necessity to enter the battle to counteract the influences.
