It's a good idea for EVERYONE

I think it's a good idea for EVERYONE to read this book. Reasons:

1. Empathy: Most people would agree that the world would be a better place if humans had more Empathy. If you will allow yourself to imagine being in the author's (or the author's wife's) shoes for even a moment, I guarantee you will have more Empathy for others.

There is probably no greater quality for a person to possess than Empathy.

2. Awareness: The research facilities, charitable foundations and other institutions that support people with cancer and their families are more likely to reach their goals if the general public has an Awareness of the struggles and suffering of the millions of individuals (and their friends and families) who have cancer.

If you gain Awareness, you probably can't help but to also gain Empathy.

3. Gratitude: After you have become Aware and Empathetic, you will feel Grateful. As you are reading Sean's story, and probably forever afterwards, you will look at your healthy children and whisper a spiritual "thank you" from your heart. Even if you are also parent of a child stricken with cancer, perhaps you will feel, in a way, Grateful that you are not alone, as another parent like you has written this book to ensure you don't feel isolated and alone.

Awareness, Empathy and Gratitude will lead to Charity.

4. Charity: -- 100% of the profits from the sale of this book will go to the Matthew David Haines Foundation, whose mission is "Bringing Hope and Happiness to Children with Cancer." So, just by purchasing and reading this book you will have ample opportunity to become more Charitable....as well as Aware, Empathetic and Grateful. You'll be getting a pretty good deal.

An amazing love story

This wonderful book should be required reading for parents who feel irritated at the interruption of their daily schedule by their children's voices and activities. You first meet Matthew as a happy, mischievous baby and watch him, through his father's words, as he starts to grow up. When cancer inserted itself into their lives, the whole family still found time for laughter and togetherness, even while Matthew's medical situation demanded more and more of their strength and energy. This story can't help but inspire in the reader a greater appreciation for life.

A very inspring book!

This book is a beautiful and moving story. It pulls you in with its candor and reality as you walk side by side with the author through his struggles against a child's frightening disease and a father's efforts to give his son every opportunity for a fulfilling, happy life. Matthew left us too early but he impacted every person he met during his time here. Everyone who reads this book will get something from it. You'll surely hold your loved ones that much tighter and appreciate the value of each minute you spend with them.

A life worth reading!!!

I laughed, I cried and I rejoiced in the triumphs. This is a story about a young boy striving to make every moment count, not just trying but succeeding in making the very best of any situation thrown at him. He lived life more in his few years than most people in a lifetime. If you are looking for heroes and role models, Matthew stands tall.
This is a must read !!!!

Always to be Remembered

The way Sean was able to express his feelings and emotions thru his writings was an amazing thing to experience. I cannot tell you how much this book has meant to me. As I am losing a child very close to me, I hold Matthew's life story dear to my heart and take from it the love and strength I felt in Matthew, Sean and the rest of their wonderful family. Thank you so much for sharing Matthew's story. He truly was a 'Gift from God'.
