A good source, with reservations

Buck and Beard are two of the best, but this set still must be used with care! There is much semi-duplication and it should not be used as an only source, but it does include an enormous number of variant lines of descent.

Perfection

Of course, I am biased because my grandfather wrote this book. I found it to be incredibly insightful and illuminating and it is obviously a valuable resource because it is sited as a major source in 90% of all family researches done.

Sidebar: I am always on the lookout for other books my grandfather wrote and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has copies they might be willing to sell, or any other information relating to him.

The first volume of an estimable three-volume series (see below), it provides pedigrees of descent from Charlemagne that can be proved without a doubt. The progeny of Royal Houses of Europe that trace back to Charlemagne are listed in chronological order under their respective Houses. Then, individual chapters list American families that link up with one or more royal lines, and pertinent facts are given for each member of the family--birth, marriage, children, connecting lines, station, distinctions, and honors.
