Boxcar Page Turner

Have read the first eight Boxcar Children books and think this is one of the three best with the other two being The Yellow House Mystery and The Woodshed Mystery. The Blue Bay Mystery involves a trip most children and adults can only dream about. Surprise Island was good also. With the Box sets 1-4 and 5-8, four books are available for the price of two and a half. I read these books in order and there are references in the books to events and characters in previous books but not enough that the books could not be read out of order or as stand alone books. Gertrude Chandler Warner wrote the Boxcar Children books over a period of many years from the 1940's to the 1970's. She must have enjoyed writing them and that spirit comes through in her books.

Why I like Blue Bay Mystery.

I read the book Blue Bay Mystery. The author is Gertrude Warner. On a scale from one to five, I would give it four. I would give it four beacuse it is intresting, but sometimes it was a bit boring. I learned a lot of things from this book and encourage people from seven to eleven to read it. My favorite part was when they found out that there was a mystery, because I thought it was the most exciting part. I think this is a great book and will try to find more books written by this author.

Another one of my favourites

I used to read this and think it would be so fun to go to a tropical island with Lars and the Boxcar Children and live on sea biscuits.

I still find it a very good book. I'm not sure what the other reviewers mean about its being slow at the beginning - every story has to have a beginning. You can't jump into the action without a bit of setting or you fall flat. Anyway. I didn't find it slow.

I recommend it greatly, especially if you like stories of survival on remote islands.

An Awesome Adventure

I liked the part when they found the turtle shell and the stones in the water. It was cool when they found the button in the fish. It was very mysterious when they found somebody had taken the crackers. I would reccommend this for other first graders and beyond. It was a cool book. Annelies age 7
