A Book Review From a Spiritridge Third Grader

Do you want to read an amazing book? Well you should read the Box Car Children. There are four young children and they are really poor. They do not have food. Then they do not know what to do. Well, they run away from their house because they thought their dad did not like them. They found a boxcar. So they thought that the boxcar might take them somewhere, but it didn't pull them. The father was trying to find them but they did not want to be found.

What I like is that when they try to find food and on their way they found a hound. I like that part because I like dogs and I think they're cute.

I recommend this book to other readers who are in 2nd grade or 3rd grade because it is just right.

The Boxcar Children Mysteries Box Set

The Boxcar Children Mysteries series started in 1942 and still is going. This box set has books 5-8 of the paperback versions. Books 1-19 were made by Chandler Warner, but when she died other author's started making the books.

I will list them for you.

The Boxcar Children #5: Mike's Mystery
The Alden children are on another summer trip out to the west, and they're thrilled to find their friend Mike lives in the bustling new town near Mystery Ranch. But one night a house burns down, and young Mike is blamed for starting the fire! The Boxcar Children know he didn't do it. Can they help their friend?

This book was made in 1960: this is when she started making each book a little faster, about one a year until she died.

The Boxcar Children #6: Blue Bay Mystery

The Alden's are in for an extra-special surprise--a trip on a huge cargo ship to a deserted South Seas island! The children enjoy fishing and exploring the beautiful bay. But soon they come across clues that make it clear they're not alone on the island. They have a neighbor, but where is he hiding, and why?

This one was made in 1961.

The Boxcar Children #7: The Woodshed Mystery
The Alden children are staying at the New England farmhouse where their grandfather grew up. There are many stories and legends about the old farm, and there's a woodshed near the house that holds a surprising secret--a secret that dates all the way back to the Revolutionary War!

This book was made in 1962.

The Boxcar Children #8: The Lighthouse Mystery

When the Alden's take a summer trip to the New England coast, they have a fun place to stay--a lighthouse! But strange things happen after it gets dark: an unknown woman is seen walking around, and Watch, the Alden's dog, wakes up growling late at night. Can The Boxcar Children shed light on a seaside mystery?

This is the last book of the box set, and it was made in 1963. There are no more box sets after this one, so you have to buy all the books separately.

The box is strong, but it's a bit harder to get the books out because they're more wedged in.

But I still rate The Boxcar Children Mysteries Box Set 5 stars.

This is a gift

I purchased this for my granddaughter for Christmas so I can't really comment yet on the books except to say that it arrived in perfect condition and in a timely manner. I'm sure she will enjoy them very much.
