Fun book for reluctant readers

My fifth grader loves the Wimpy Kid series and until recently it was hard to get him to read anything but sports books and fact books. I appreciate any book that goes above and beyond to appeal to active boys who wouldn't ordinarily sit down and read independently.

Nice book

Our son really likes this book. He has already read it three times in the last two weeks.

My son loves this book.....

My 9 year old son absolutely loves this book. He read it so quickly we bought the next book Roderick Rules. Can't go wrong with this book. My son was actually excited by reading and laughed through the whold thing. Very positve reading experience for a child who absolutley hated reading.

If your child hates to read...

...like my son, let him/her try this book. My son loved it and actually looked forward to "read aloud" time instead of procrastinating. He found it quite funny, which helped, I'm sure. I'm still amazed.

Girls like it too!

my 12 year old daughter chose this as a gift for a friend's birthday. She began to read it at the bookstore. I told her it was ok to finish it before giving it as a gift. We ended up keeping it and getting friend another copy!. She's now reading the second book and she's reading on a Saturday morning just for fun!! She said she wants to find other books by this author and is anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. may wonders never cease!

Boys don?t keep diaries?or do they?

The launch of an exciting and innovatively illustrated new series narrated by an unforgettable kid every family can relate to

It?s a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you?re ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

In book one of this debut series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride. But when Rowley?s star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend?s newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion.

Author/illustrator Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a new kind of hero who epitomizes the challenges of being a kid. As Greg says in his diary, ?Just don?t expect me to be all ?Dear Diary? this and ?Dear Diary? that.? Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won?t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Since its launch in May 2004 on Funbrain.com, the Web version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been viewed by 20 million unique online readers. This year, it is averaging 70,000 readers a day.
