As a woodcarver and experienced in realistic Bird and Fish carving, I found that Brian Gilmore covered every aspect of the whale figure that one can possibly need for wood carving. Gilmore was also able to make the book a pleasure to read for the novice as well as the experienced wood carver.The patterns are clear and detailed.The Instructions are a pleasure to not only read but to follow with clear and simple percision.I am looking forward to the next book on carving that Brian Gilmore writes
