This portfplio gives a brief history of the non-Spanish, non-Indian residents of New Mexico. The way of life of the mountain men, early merchants, soldiers, farmers, and cowboys, the influence of the railroad and mining activities, and New Mexico's struggle for statehood are considered. A vocabulary and bibliography enrich the text. The sixteen historic photographs were carefully selected for their informative as well as their aesthetic value. They are well reproduced on heavy, coated stock and will be valuable for study and dsiplay by educators and students and suitable for framing.
