Highly recommended!

I read this book before I got married. This is one of the best marriage book that I have ever read (And I read a lot of them :)). Mostly because my husband's character and personality is similar to Mr. Mayhall (discipline, perfectionist, detail oriented, introvert) while mine is similar to Mrs Mayhall (people oriented, flexible, and unorganized). This book has helped us to celebrate our differences; appreciate, respect, complement, and learn from each other.

MEN ARE NOT LIKE WOMEN!!!!!!!!!

I WAS STRUCK BY THE WAY WE ARE DESCRIBED: MEN AS MICROWAVES AND WOMEN AS OVENS. PRETTY MUCH TO THE POINT. HELP ME TO NOT PUSH MY MAN INTO BEING WHAT HE IS NOT. WISH MORE MEN WOULD READ IT SO THEY COULD UNDERSTAND THAT WE WOMEN WORK DIFFERENTLY AND THAT IT IS OKAY AND VERY NORMAL NOT TO BE THE SAME. GOD HAS CREATED US SO WONDERFULLY- WE SHOULD BE COMMITTED TO ENJOYING THOSE DIFFERENCES. JACK AND CAROLE GO A LONG WAY TOWARD HELPING US SEE THESE AND OTHER TRUTHS.

Right Idea, Rough Approach

This book presents a lot of good (and great) advice for couples. However, the usage of Bible verses and "God this, God that" can easily be off-putting. A more appropriate title would be "God in Marriage" or something similar. If you're a very religious Christian in need of "refreshing" marriage advice, this is the book for you. Otherwise, skip on by.

REAL PRACTICLE BOOK

MARRIAGE TAKES MORE THAN LOVE CAME QUICKLY & IN GOOD SHAPE. THE BOOK WAS NOT THE LATEST VERSION BUT STILL A GREAT BOOK ON MARRIAGE.

IN HIM, DR. CARL

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?

Marriage takes more than love. It sounds straightforward and simple. But what more exactly do you need? In Marriage Takes More Than Love, Jack and Carole Mayhall share a multitude of things they've found that are vital to a good marriage-a solid foundation in God, open and honest communication, a clear definition of roles and responsibilities, exciting sex, and more.

The difference between smooth sailing and shipwrecks in marriage lies in what couples do about rough weather. All marriages have strengths and weaknesses. All marriages are either dynamic or deteriorating. The husband-wife combo must either progress or perish.

A strong marriage is built by making good choices. In a his-and-hers style, the Mayhalls show readers how to make the kind of choices in marriage that look out for the best interests of all three parties involved-you, your spouse, and God.
