Inadequate detail for basic maintenance procedures, but no worse than the factory manual.

First, I have not reviewed the manual completely as I am not a pro mechanic and only perform basic maintenance.

That said, I purchased with the hopes of getting better detail and information than I could find in the Factory Service Manual which I found seriously lacking in detail on maintenance procedures. Clymer appears to be at least as informative as the factory manual which is why I rated as high as a 3. If I did not have the Factory manual for comparison, my rating would have been lower.

I purchased the Clymer manual with the high expectations I've come to expect from my experience with the Chilton's Car manuals I have used in the past. Unfortunately, for the procedure I attempted, the Clymer manual seemed to match the Factory manual verbatim, including the illustrations. The procedure specifies an adjustment bolt, but does not describe or illustrate the location of the bolt. When I checked an exploded view of the entire front fork assembly, some fasteners were approprately labeled, but not all. Other bolts were simply labeled as "bolt" with no indication of its purpose and I could find no label for the adjustment bolt I was seeking. Even with assistance from my brother who has some maintenance experience with motorcycles, but not this manufacturer, we could not identify the adjustment bolt. Since I was not comfortable enough to continue relying on the manual, I had the dealer perform the latest 2500-mile maintenance interval, which set me back more than $400, plus time and expense to get the bike to the dealer.

Since I have no confidence is this manual for help with basic maintenance I cannot recommend it over the factory manual, except maybe on cost since nothing comes cheap when it has the "bar and shield" on it. (no offense to Harley-Davidson)
