importance of modesty
I really enjoyed reading Collen's book and I think it's a wonderful resource. I learned a lot about the Catholic teaching on modesty that is based on the writing of Saints and Popes of the past. I command her for being the first Catholic author to publish a book on modesty. Many protestests are already ahead of the game. So often girls and women put themselves up for sale to every guy who walks around because their immodest dress tells guys that they don't respect and value their
dignity
, so they make themselves vulnerable to a guy's lust for pleasure and sex. The media is saturated with sexual messages and no wonder that guys are confused and don't know how to respect a woman.

one of the best books on modest dressing I know
one of the best books on modest
dressing
I know, especially the letter from the Bishop who says that it (immodest dressing; following the law of female
dignity
) cuts simpletons into pieces. In broken relationships, the direlects of society etc all because of immodest dressing.
I like the part about dresses, where a woman can really feel like a woman. swishing and swooshing with her beautiful long skirts.
and a woman who wears pants consciously or unconsciously changes her identity into more like a man, leading, instead of following. (she would make a good bossy career woman, but not a good feminine housewife; the Eve help-mate that God made for Adam)
powerful, incisive, cutting. I like it, it's like whiskey straight from bottle, undiluted.

A Groundbeaking Women's Resource
A thoughful, clear, and concise book written for today's woman who has "been there, done that" and still finds her hectic life wanting and unsatisfying.
This book leads by example as well as giving a multitude of resources, supportive e-groups, and web sites to help any woman of any age reclaim and regain the beauty and
dignity that
is her birthright.
Dressing with
Dignity gets my highest recommendation as the best start for any woman who wishes to reclaim her femininity from an androgynous world.
Dignified book honestly answers question: "Why?"
This book answered many questions I had about wearing dresses, like, "WHY?!" and "how", not to mention, "What type?", etc., etc... I have always felt like a true female in a dress. I highly admired those mothers whom I saw wearing dresses at parks, the zoo, the grocery stores, and every day casual events. I could feel their femininity and rarely had any doubt that they were Christian. I often wondered how they could "pull it off". I've often wondered, "Why pull it off?", as well.
Dressing
with
Dignity
has the answers I've searched for, and those I never thought to ask.
The book was a very quick read, and I'm a slow reader! I had a hard time putting it down, as it quenched such a thirst for knowledge! I, now, feel prepared to dress my daughters properly and appropriately, and to dress as an example for them. I have also found a wonderful source to back up my resistance to allowing others to buy inappropriate clothing for them, as gifts. I can now counter statements such as, "It's what all the kids are wearing these days."
Amazingly, it even simply answered my questions about wearing makeup. I've often felt torn about this, wanting to wear it to look nice, and because my husband likes a little on me, and wanting to be as God made me. Now, I know it is fine to accentuate the natural beauty God has given me, while not drawing undo attention to myself.
I can, now, gladly dress in a very feminine way, feeling good about myself, bringing out the best in others around me, and feeling stylish, as well. I can set a great example for my daughters, guide them in their attire, and, perhaps, set an example for others around me.
I highly recommend this book!
