The most informative peice of literature EVER!!

After my child was born via a very traumatic cesarean I ached to find more info about VBAC than the few statistics online. I read several books about VBAC, each informed me in their own way but I still felt like I wasn't being told the WHOLE story. Loaded with statistics, personal experience and an impassioned drive to inform these authors have compiled a book that taught me more in the first chapter than I learned in any other book I had read. It validated my feelings of grief, betrayal and anger but more so it left me feeling like I, myself, had done the research in that I felt TRULY informed. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this to EVERY pregnant woman, every woman contemplating a pregnancy and to every physician. Personally, I think this book should be mandatory reading for every med school student. A++++++!

Wonderful Book

I think it's very important to read this entire book front to back before commenting. The authors do not state that you HAVE to have a VBAC, that ALL women are scarred from their c-section experiences, and that the medical community is the devil. They never say that! The authors simply give you the truth.
I would recommend this book to any woman looking to have a VBAC. Even though the book was written in the 80's, it still has very helpful information in it. It's especially important if you need help with overcoming your fear of a natural birth and it prepares you for a hospital birth.

Buying it for my daughter....now!

This book saved my soul back in 1983....and now I'm buying it for my daughter's pre-birthing knowledge. A powerful book written by a very talented author as the result of her own birthing experience. She will tell you how to keep from being blind-sided by events you had no clue about prior to going to the hospital to give birth. She will wake you up and make you aware that this is y-o-u-r birthing experience. She will blast you into being responsible for it, because this is going to be your very own personal birthing experience. For so many c/s moms, this book will save your soul, too; but, for all moms-to-be it is mandatory reading because it will help you know yourself better as a pregnant woman and will help you understand your birthing style and birthing needs. You will learn how to make sure your birthing experience will be conducive to your sense of safety and well-being for you and your Team. Bradley method childbirth classes are very helpful, too. Call Labor and Delivery and ask the nurses there which doctors rarely perform c/sections and ask them which doctors perform VBACs. And think about getting a labor advocate (midwife...doula...) to join you and your labor coach. A good labor advocate will free you and your labor coach to focus on your labor instead of having to worry about anything else. Happy birthing to everyone!
(mom to three.. all of them fabulous & now grown up...8#, 10#, and you guessed it, one 11# hospital VBAC!)
