Just right for our times

This book is inspirational! The stories of how some children have overcome devastating circumstances are very well written and moving. The commentary offers insightful analysis, providing a good balance of dramatic stories and intelligent critique. I highly recommend this book for the general public, as well as mental health and youth workers. In these uncertain times, I found these stories particularly salient.

The media thrives on stories of children at risk, and conventional wisdom relegates such children to failure. Challenging these characterizations, the authors show how 12 traumatized children developed into productive, caring, and responsible adults.
