If you want complicated - read something else. If you want to make
selling easy
and rewarding, read this book first.

sales
person new leverage, which is in both the buyer and the seller's best interest.
I liked it when I first found it, because most sales programs tell you WHAT to do, but Sandler shows you tactically HOW to get it done.
This is the part most sales training misses.
As several reviewers and Sandler himself would have pointed out, reading the book is
step
1. Selling requires skill and skills are built over time. These skills, while simple, require some effort to master because the best things Sandler teaches us are counter-intuitive. They are opposite of annoying traditional sales practices. So like any new habit it takes a sustained effort. Just like my new car with a keyless ignition. It took me about a month before I quit trying to put the key in.

I spent 20 years in the retail automobile business (quite successfully, I might add), and am proud of the fact I always kept myself open to new ideas, different opinions, and innovative ways of
selling successfully
. In all of those years, I never learned ANYTHING close to how David Sandler suggests we should sell. While I was successul, I did not find fulfillment in the car business and moved to a new industry a few years ago, purchasing a national franchise. Purely by chance, the national headquarters had made a committment to the Sandler Selling
System
as the method they would train and support. It is a complete 180 degree turn in so many ways from what I had learned before. Because of this, it has not been an easy transition for me, but I believe it is such a completely better system of professional
sales that
I am committed to learning it, making it my habit, and enforcing it as the selling system in my business. I think that anyone in a position that requires them to attempt to show others their way is a better way (by the way - that is everyone in the world in some facet of their life)
can benefit
from learning this system. It is as equally applicable to the reluctant and uninclined salesperson as it is to the seasoned salesperson who enjoys the idea of "being" a salesperson. It will give you another valuable way to look at human interaction and how you can "do it" more effectively. I would contend that it would be impossible to read this and not gain some benefit from the contents. Then again, if self-improvement isn't that important to you, then this book probably isn't for you, and that's fine too.

A Sales growth primer GEM!
Sandler is awesome. This is the way to go to the bank in
sales
and keep who you are separate from your role at work. Great book. Must read. Entertaining character to boot.Here is where the sales dance begins. Who will lead? You or your prospect/suspect?

I think the
sales process
has been taken to new heights. THe psychology of sales and training will be forever influenced by this book. Every company, school, office, etc. needs a copy. The true meaning of being an educator, trainer, investor, etc.

Great sales system

Selling
, Spin Selling and Strategic Selling, and I really like the Sandler
system
- great for
sales where
you are selling directly with the decision maker - works well for 5 figure software deals and as a tool on larger deals. I enjoyed this book for the system description, techniques as well as stories about the author. I would have given the book a higher score if these elements weren't all mixed in together. I would have preferred if the system was presented and then followed by the techniques as is the presentation in the Sandler training sessions and President's Club binders. Still, this is a good intro to a great selling system.
