Spiritual meat for the mature Christian
This is an excellent book. But is hard to sit down and plow through in one sitting: There is just too much to think ab
out
and ponder over. Hence the four stars. The book is somewhat disquieting in that it will challenge what
you think
about the Christian life and what your faith is all about. There is a lot to chew over and before reading this the reader needs to be grounded in what they believe.
If you are going to read this have your Bible at hand and read the passages quoted in context.
A wonderful book that I have recommended to many
Dan Stone very simply (and with charm and grace) talks ab
out what
it means to live the Christian life. He discusses those things which are important, and those which are not. Half the
Gospel
(works, works, works) will make one angry, cranky and ripe for a fall! I've read this once, and upon finishing the last page began to read all over again. There are some marvelous, simple illustrations about the Christ life and being set free from feeling as if I must do God a service and serve Him. Like He needs me :~)....
I wholeheartedly recommend this very simple, very basic book that help us to learn how to get the focus off of me and onto Christ where my focus belongs.

A must read!
This is a must-read book for every christian. If
you feel
like there is something missing in your christian life or if you are getting tired to be christian and feel that every day the struggle is worst, then this book is for you. It presents the other side of the Christ cross: not only Christ died for your sins, but he also died with you so you can have a new life. This book will open your eyes to a new spiritual dimension of abundant life and God relationship.
Highly recommended.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! This is likely to be one of the best Christian books that
you will
ever read. I literally couldn't put it down. Now that I have finished it, I plan to go back and read it again so I can digest it. Some have called it a classic (or at least destined to be a classic). I tend to disagree. This is not necessarily a scholarly work, nor is it expository in nature. However, what it does quite well, is explain the
Gospel
(the whole Gospel) in ways you may have never thought ab
out before
. Dan
has chosen
illustrations that will literally change the way you look at the world, but more importantly, the way you look at your Christian walk. I guarantee you will not forget them. He does a masterful job of explaining what it means to be "in Christ." Those two words are vitally important, and they're more than just a cliche. He then uses two excellent illustrations to show exactly how our life changes once we are "in Christ." Those illustrations are "the line" and "the swing." He then proceeds to show how to walk in the light of this reality. Be prepared to have your paradigms challenged. Just one example, is
when
he suggests that our goal should not be to live a "victorious Christian life," but that the peaks and valleys we usually eschew are actually a part of God's divine will. He uses the Bible to illustrate.
I think the thing I liked mot about the book is the fact that he is not prescriptive. He doesn't propose to have it all figured out and then demand that readers follow the same path he does. Instead, he encourages us to live in the reality of Emanuel - literally "God with us." By becoming sensitive to our union with Christ (by way of the Holy Spirit) we develop an intimacy that is unique to our own design and calling.
As I said, the book is not expository in nature; however, what Dan teaches is totally scriptural. Personally, I think it is helpful for a person to come to the table with some foundation, otherwise it may be a little more difficult for them to actually test whether what Dan is saying is rooted in truth, or just one man's fanciful interpretation. What he says sounds almost to good to be true, but that's why they call it "the good news."
