Kind of self promoting for my taste

The "memories" section seems to me to be a tad too nostalgic and useless. I really don't care about how so-and-so bought a Lodge pan at a garage sale in 1937, you know? The recipes, I haven't tried any yet, in spite of having this book lying about, because they tend towards the unique and/or quirky. Not the best volume for the cook who is looking for how to adapt basic recipes to cast iron, like myself. As far as Southern cuisine goes, some of the recipes verge on the bizarre. Strawberry pizza, anyone?

Old fashioned cooking come to life!

A wonderful book on how to cook with any type cast iron cookwear! It has tons of old fashioned recipes with bits of history as well. It is compiled from Tennessee's Historic Preservation Society.

Great book!

I have enjoyed this book a lot. With the concern about coated cookware I haver returned to cast iron. This was a great book to get me into it. Good recipe ideas. Have given the book (and pans)to friends and family for gifts.
