Good, but not AWESOME...

I read the other review, and I am beginning to think I may need to re-read this text. Don't get me wrong. I liked the book - but I am not so sure it is the best thing Relevant Publishing has put out.

Stylistically, this author writes in a way that felt like each chapter there was a subject and about 5 little rabbit trails he took me on while trying to address the theme.

Depth - the text handles some topics that many "following Jesus" style books don't even attempt to - and the author does a great job of dealing with the religiosity that confounds many peoples vision of what it means to be a Christian.

It didn't take me long to read. It had some good tid-bits. But, nothing earthshattering or new for me.

Depth and Practical

I've always been impressed with the Relevant Books and this one is no exception. In fact, I must say that I believe this is the best book put out from Relevant along side Red Moon Rising co-authored by Dave Roberts with Pete Greig.

The book is an easy read through and through. Dave Roberts has done his homework on this book and does an incredible job of writing. I must even say that it is quite relevant to the teens and 20 somethings out there who are searching what it means to follow Jesus. Also it never seems to be presented as preachy but instead with the mindset that each of us are on a journey together in learning what it means to follow Jesus.

Dave Roberts presents the reader with questions that most of us have thought or possibly haven't thought, but encourage us that we are not alone. He provides insight to certain parts of Scripture as well as does a great job of telling true life stories that present truth to the reader. He even provides practical ways in following Jesus and what it means to do so.

He definitely seems to be a seasoned writer, which he is and if he writes any other books, I'll gladly buy those as I have been impressed with his thoughts and knowledge on different spiritual matters pertaining to Jesus.

Following Jesus takes a proactive look at what serving Jesus means today. It helps readers clarify how they can be gracious, wise, joyous, creative, biblical and balanced in everyday life. It brings them back again and again to the life of Christ, from perspectives they may never have considered. It is a non-religious discipleship manual for the spiritually hungry.
