Best of the Multiples Books

I already had a 4 year old and a 2 year old when my twins were born 3 months ago. I felt like a pro when it came to breastfeeding my singletons! However, I was scared & frustrated by the lack of sufficient info to help me prepare for the pregnancy & raising of my twins. Every single "Twin Resource" I picked up in the bookstore was worthless to me. I was searching an elusive prize: The Perfect Book to guide me through the unexpected.

Having successfully breastfed my older children, I was determined to do my best with the twins. And trust me, there were PLENTY of well meaning know-it-alls trying to discourage me from even trying. I'm here to tell you that it is definitely possible & doable...if you are determined.

I had well intentioned family members helping me out in the early days of coming home from the hospital. I felt a lot of pressure to supplement with formula. And I felt very sabotaged at times when my babies were fed those evil sample bottles from the hospital behind my back!

In my struggle to do the best that I could for my children, I consulted my copy of Mothering Multiples, I saw a lactation consultant religiously, I rented the hospital grade pump to help get my supply up, and I nursed those babies day and night (and day and night)!

This book was crucial to me when I needed "back-up" for my case when I felt the need to tell those breastfeeding naysayers to back off. This book and the EZ 2 Nurse pillow are the two items I recommend to women expecting multiples!

Skip it if you've BF before

I was looking for more tips about raising twins. This is a great book IF you've not breastfeed before. If you have, you'll get more from DR.Luke's book about your pregnancy & the web about after wards from good boards. Still looking for a good book about how to handle two at once.

A real supporter...

I started reading this book towards the end of my pregnancy. It has given me support and confidence all the way through to breastfeed. OK, I has to supplement with a formula but still this book helped me to hang in there and it has been 10 mnths and we are still continuing to breastfeed, Still consulting the book.

Great Book

This book has been worth its weight in gold and I feel well prepared for the birth of my twins. It is very Americanised and it does preach breastfeeding slightly (I firmly believe that breast is not best for every mother after failing with my 1st child after amonth or so) it really is very helpful and it has boosted my confidence with a 'can-do' attitude...well at the very least I'm willing to give it a darn good try!! Team it up with 'Double Trouble' and you're set to go!
My 5 year old daughter was quite taken by the pictures throughout the book of women feeding their babies....quite funny to watch her facial expressions as she tried to work out if that round lump was the Mummys booby or the baby's head...hee hee!

Mother of one 3 year old and now expecting twins!

I am a mother of a 3 year old and am now expecting twins in a few months.. This book is easy to read, has lots of details about breast feeding, how to handle the NICU and the babies once they come home...as well as family life and how to plan ahead for time saving tips and help around the house. My first child was born very early and stayed in the NICU for many weeks. I can that the descriptions in this book are wonderful and will really prepare you for what "could" possibly happen if your babies are born too early...(this is something that you don't ever want to think about but....its good to read ahead and be prepared just in case.)

I have enjoyed reading this book and think that it would make a welcome addition to your arsenal of twins/multiples books especially if you plan to breast feed.
