Nice surprise!

A few people I know up here on the Mesabi Range (in & around Hibbing) insisted I take a good look at this book.

So I did and I have to say that those same folks have since been granted "Good Authority" status.

"West Bank Boogie" is fascinating, to say the least; some of its characters are household names while others I get to learn about for the first time ... a pleasing mix of the "known" & "unknown" territory.

The Garrison Keillor introduction (wow, nice coup!) and the stories from the Vietnam years are particularly good; I never get tired of reading about that era and the "proactive" musical forces behind it.

The CD anthology I was lucky enough to secure is an appropriate, thoughtful touch.

There's also a very good website for the book's promotion that includes some other stories from people involved with this scene.
