A REVIEW BY LISTENING WITH HEART 360

The book, The Truth: I'm a girl, I'm smart and I know everything is a valuable book for all mothers of young girls. The Truth: I'm a girl, I'm smart and I know everything

I found this book really touched upon that sometimes challenging "tween" stage that girls go through. It highlighted the changes a girl faces with an altering body and those decisions which catapult you to become a young teenager and eventually a woman.

I remembered at about age 12, choosing whether to play with dolls with my younger sister, or to try out the latest lipgloss and write in my diary. I thought to to myself, "Am I too old to continue to play dolls with her? What would it mean if I chose to play dolls? Would I be wierd?"

I also had the pleasure of recalling my first crush and first kiss. My childhood sweetheart, Greg, grew up with me living a few houses away up the street. We adored each other! One night, my siblings and I were headed home and Greg had hidden behind a blue spruce in his yard. As I walked by he raced out, tackled me, kissed me and then ran to his house. I was surprised, to say the least, but got up and walked home.

I was able to inform him as a grown woman, many years later, that he had actually kissed my eye! We both laughed and he talked about how magical it was when we were together as children.

This book retrieved some of that magic for me and I was more than delighted to share it with my own 11 year old daughter, Rachel.

Always Remember

As a woman in her late 20's and recently married, I have found myself in the midst of such emotional change. "The Truth" brought me back to a period in my life where I began a cycle of subconscious holding patterns that have recently surfaced. "The Truth" brought back feelings of joy, sadness, humor, and most of all truth. It has the ability to remind us that even the littlest things mount up to something far greater then we could have ever expected.

The truth: I'm a girl, I'm smart and I know everything

This book was a great and easy read. It really showed what a girl could go thru in life. I could easily relate to the things the girl went through in the book. Especially the part about the Valentines Day cards. I enjoyed the book very much and will be sharing it with my friends. Rachel, age 11

A gem!

Purity of heart, and purity of purpose: step inside this girl and be transformed! A lovely read for girls of all ages -- with this bonus for baby-boomers: the pages transport you into the days of your own girlhood. A wonderful, refreshing read.

THE TRUTH is a delightful, humorous secret diary, written by a girl who is 10-11 years of age. She is wise and yet innocent. Her words acknowledge those priceless truths that we all knew as kids. She makes us cry and laugh and see ourselves. Everybody loves reading her thoughts, secrets, adventures and solutions to difficult problems. Girls are naturally curious and this book gives them a real opportunity to see how a girl like themselves in so many ways handles her toughest problems and most personal thoughts. Mom can read the book along with her daughter and not only be brought back to herself as a youngster, but find on every page relevant topics for discussion with her daughter. How do you handle a bully? How do you handle a crush on a boy? What about teasing? How do you find time to listen to your daughter? Do we have enough fun together? What really matters? There is space right within the book for the girl and or mom to make notes or her own diary entries. The book ends with discussion ideas that can also open up whole new areas of topics for mom and daughter or the young reader and other members of her family, friends, or teachers. Behind this very easy read, written by a positive psychologist with over 25 years of clinical experience, is the psychological message to the girls reading THE TRUTH that they can and must keep the fire and passion of their girlhoods as they grow up and have the courage to carry the most precious parts of themselves into adulthood.. For parents the book is a way back to what made them feel most special at 10 or 11. Once parents are back in the place where their kids live, then listening, trust and real sharing can begin. Every girl and ever parent wants this kind of TRUTH!
