Inspiring

This book opened my eyes to the seriousness of child abuse. It is also an amazing story of strength, endurance and resiliance. For anyone to be able to live a normal adult life after that kind of a childhood is truly a miracle and testament of the author's perseverance.

Tears Behind the Mask

Tears Behind the Mask makes the reader appreciate what they have. Everyone takes things for granted until they are able to visualize how bad it can be. Donna Certain had a horrible child life. No one can truely feel how bad it was, but this book enlightens us on how horrible child abuse can really be. I believe everyone should read this book, it definitely shows someone how grateful and valuable their life is.

I must admit that reading is not my favorite past time, but the very moment I began reading this book, I couldn't take my interest away. "Tears Behind The Mask" is intriguing, very well written, and keeps you wanting to read more even when you've reached the end. How the author of the book portrays child abuse is unmatched, and makes you aware of just how much child abuse goes undetected, or should I say covered up. This is a must read book for everyone. You will be amazed at Donna Certain's talent as a writer, and her resolve to push forward to become a strong, successful person despite her challenging childhood.

Tears Behind the Mask

This book is a touching insight into the life and hell of one child. Her experiences made me flinch and cry like nothing ever has. Her triumph is remarkable. The person she has become is even more amazing. I had the rare opportunity to meet the author in my hometown. Unknowing of her tragedy, I instantly became quite fond of her. Her kindness and willingness to help is overwhelming. After actually meeting Donna, this book was very difficult to read. I felt as though this was a close friend in a very bad situation. I felt the need to help her .. I then found out, she had helped me. Her strength and fortitude is unbelievable. To have survived such torment and to have become such a delightful person is simply amazing. I was moved to tears at many points and felt a geniune sadness in my heart for her. To know that she has overcome all she was forced to endure, gave my heart wings. This book truly embodies the strength of the human spirit and the trust in a higher power. I am blessed to have met Donna and I feel my life is better having done so. For all those suffering, this book is a must read. It will show you that through any amount of pain, you can prevail. Trust in the Lord and in yourself. The person that will emerge will be one worth saving.

Hard to read, hard to forget

I read this book, which is well written,in one afternoon.I could not put it down after picking it up. Donna is a brave woman,for enduring the hell her mother subjected her to. She is brave for being able to share her story with us. Inspireing to me. I am thankful that she has found peace with the master, who was with her every step of the way.
