A great light read!

I bought this book while i was working for Border's on a whim, looking for a light read. I must say, I do love this book, and the series is progressing wonderfully. This book has been wonderfully descriptive and I will continue through this series.

Awesome story

I really enjoyed this book. Others who enjoyed should check out a new author, Jessica Hale. Her debut novel is called "The Glass Eye: Search for the Ancient Scroll". These are two great fantasy stories.

been good thus far

I bought this book for my 10 year old daughter to read during the summer. While we are still reading it, she has loved it thus far.

Not your average view on fairy tales!

My kids and I listened to the audio version of the book, and after taking a while to get used to the reader (he's not paticularly suited for this type of book...would be better reading stories at "story time" to pre-schoolers) we quickly decided that this was a story for us. A little slow in the beginning, but quickly builds suspense throughout and impossible to turn off near the end. We sat in the car in the driveway several times to hear some more! While I feel the main characters could be fleshed out a bit more for our enjoyment, the author presents a different and excellent look at fairy tale creatures. Not your usual take on them, and I promise you will never look at a butterfly or hummingbird the same way again! This is just a fun read, and has some pretty good lessons hidden away that my kids (9yrs and 7yrs) caught on to. We will be reading the whole set!!!

Fablehaven

Wonderful book that delights both children and adults. Creative and well written, it's a fast page turner with excitement and mystery throughout.

For centuries mystical creatures of all description were gathered into a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary survives today as one of the last strongholds of true magic. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite.

Kendra and her brother, Seth, have no idea that their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven. Inside the gated woods, ancient laws keep relative order among greedy trolls, mischievous satyrs, plotting witches, spiteful imps, and jealous fairies. However, when the rules get broken -- Seth is a bit too curious and reckless for his own good -- powerful forces of evil are unleashed, and Kendra and her brother face the greatest challenge of their lives. To save their family, Fablehaven, and perhaps even the world, Kendra and Seth must find the courage to do what they fear most.
