Another Shabby Chic Disappointment!

I am so disppointed in this book. (Story of my life, I guess.) While many of the interiors are pretty (p. 90-93 are the best), this book is really a high-end catalogue of Kathryn Ireland's fabric line (there are even photos of fabric swatches everywhere with her name prominently displayed. The fabrics themselves are unspectacular & not terribly imaginative, like Kathryn's interiors). WORSE, scattered throughout the book are worshipful quotes by her famous friends and celebrity clients. A sample from Steve Martin: "With Kathryn, you can shut your eyes, open them five months later, and everything will be perfect." And another: "Kathryn's fabrics are a total reflection of her personality -- vibrant, captivating, completely original and classy." OMG, did this person leave out the part about Kathryn's long coiling hair, perfumed with all the roses of Araby, hanging sensuously over a hand-dyed vintage batik throw pillow? Seriously, Keith Irvine (check out his self-aggrandizing tome) & Kathryn should have dinner someplace & admire themselves in the cutlery. The Best Thing about this Book: the 2 dogs and about 5 or 6 rooms. Seriously, there are better decorators out there.
