Great memories

After reading a review of Once Upon a Summertime, I purchased it for my mother because our family stayed at the Whatley beach house several times to escape Chicago during the winter holidays. She loved it, and it brought back many memories for all of us.

Ponte Vedra has changed much since then, but this delightfully written and illustrated little book recreates an era past, one of simplicity and beauty. Anyone who has an interest in Ponte Vedra, or who grew up in Florida before the growth explosion will enjoy it.

Muffet during the 1930's at Ponte Vedra Beach when she first started writing in her diary, a little red leather one with its own lock and key. The author has followed the original diary journal entries and with her recollections has brought to life the summertime that she cherished. The script is true, the memories stills strong today and the illustrations are Muffet's very own. And, as she says, the story is for beach children of all ages.
