A first attempt
I have to keep in mind that this was Gia
Bathory's first
novel and I was given the thing as an x-mas gift. I found the writing style annoying and the writing being only on one side of the page was a poor attempt to make the novel longer. Ersebet was portrayed as basically a pot smoker with no real idea what was going on.
The first story line follows a dull little servant of Ersebet's that supposedly marries someone and he cheats on her...what does this have to do with the coutness? Nothing.
By the end of the novel the 'author' has apparently BECOME Ersebet and must now write her story. I was both
trouble
d and amused that this person (the author) became what she mocked in the middle of the novel. "One of the troubled teens that wears black nail polish and reads Anne rice who thinks she is Ersebet". I don't know if 'The Lady Gia Bathory' wears nail polish but she sounds like she's trying to be someone she's not and break into an industry she obviously not ready for.

a very quick read
the beginning of the book was a bit slow, telling the lives of the servants that were in contact with the countess. the last half of the book was great. horrific and bloody, it kept the attention of the reader. however, it was a short, quick read. i would have liked for it to be twice as long. i finished the book in a day.

The
Trouble
with the
Pears
The Trouble with the Pears stems from a place understood by all who are mad, the story of Erzebet
Bathory
is a story of compassion mixed with passion, blood and fire. High Countess of Hungary during the sixteenth century, she tortured, killed, loved and destroyed everyone in her path. She shocked the Hapsburg Royalty and defied the very crown of Hungary. Her scandals have lived on for ages, six of them to be precise. Her story beckons one to come near, curl up and sip the crimson vitae of madness.
