Ironically, I had just ordered 2 copies of this book when a friend's relative was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He exhibited aggressive behavior and could not be kept in the family home by his wife. Therefore, new living arrangements had to be made swiftly. This book guided them through contact with Medicaid for evalution for funding his care and then helped them make a selection of an appropriate home that would accept those funds from day one. This was important, since the family did not have long-term care insurance, and some placements require the family to privately finance the first 2 yrs. of care before accepting Medicaid payments. In short, a chaotic time was made less stressful by use of this book.

This is one of the best books of its kind on the market. It provides excellent checklists and gives suggestions about what to look for when selecting senior housing for your loved ones or yourself. I highly recommend it and suggest that those in the medical community that deal with these issues not only read it but make it available to their clients.

The author has done an excellent job at organizing information and checklists about Senior Housing. It is obvious that her years in the industry have made her a seasoned expert. The glossary of terms is especially helpful and this book is the kind of resource that can be used coast to coast no matter where one lives. I highly recommend this pocket guide to anyone faced with the overwhelming decision about the most appropriate housing for a loved one, a friend or for oneself.
