You Love It or You Hate It, I Guess

Well, *I* LOVED IT! I've owned this book for a while and just happened across these three very disparate reviews. I think this book appeals if you like the dangerous side of things. I do agree with the reviewer who liked it , that it's a fantasy, and as such those old BDSM bywords of Safe Sane Consensual have no meaning. This ISNT a BdSM erotic romance, and just because that's what Claire usually writes, doesn't mean we have to punish her for writing something different. This is a down and dirty old-fashioned kidnapped and torture tale, highly erotic if you like that sort of thing, which, I confess, I do!! Claire is a great writer and the scenes are stark, powerful and hot hot hot. That's what I think! See what you think!

Dangerous and Dirty but definitely HOT

I felt compelled to write this review after reading the two other very negative reviews. Being personally very well acquainted with all of Ms. Thompson's writing, I would agree this is not her typical romantic consensual BDSM story, but then, it wasn't intended to be. She wrote this quite a while back, and if you look on her website, it was an exploration into a dark fantasy, not based on truth, not based at ALL on safe, sane, consensual. This is not a romance. It's a dark tale of one woman's abduction and sexualization. The goal is not to find true love, or redemption. It is a FANTASY designed to titillate that darker part of those of us who are turned on by the fantasy of sexual abduction. I found the book extremely satisfying, especially as the main character emerges from it with new self-awareness and a deep appreciation for her life and freedom.

That said, I would recommend anyone who doesn't like Ms. Thompson's nonconsensuals to check out her romances, each one more beautiful and erotically satisfying than the last.

Respectfully submitted

Jane is abducted by a sadistic couple intent on reducing her to a sexual object. Drawn into a world where sensuality is blurred and splattered by the harsh brush of abuse, the exploration is as much a matter of the mind and soul as of the body. Jane, called "Frog" by her captors, learns to adapt as her world shrinks to the avoidance of pain and the pursuit of pleasure. Ironically, her captivity frees her to finally appreciate a life she took for granted, and even in her sexual prison she discovers small joys and, ultimately, redemption.
