Bought the book for the biscuits

At last I can eat my biscuits! A book store in a neighboring town had Ms. Willis for a talk on her cookbook, Bon Appetit...She had been featured in the Atlanta food section as part of a group that resurrects southern recipes. This is the kind of cookbook filled with recipes I will try page by page. The illustrations make your mouth water and the recipes are easy to follow. Susan Miller


The Real Deal

As a displaced southerner (a Georgian at that) living in New York City, this 5 star book delights with its authenticity and delicious recipes. It is not just a taste of home for me but rather a snapshot of a great regional cuisine. The recipes are real and not dressed up to make them appealing to tiresome foodies or to complement current trends. Southern Food, Southern Cooking, Soul Food--however it is described, this cookbook tells the true story.

Excellent

Many cookbooks contain interesting recipes... but my favorite cookbooks also count as a good read. This one is a new favorite -- my mother was GRITS (Girl Raised In The South), so many of the foods are familiar to me, and I am happy to have more recipes. And I spent a happy afternoon reading, which is always a big plus for me. Great addition to my collection.






The wonderful taste and technique of Bon Appetit Y'all

What makes Virginia's book a real enjoyment to me are the results from these recipes. I have not been disappointed by a single one. When you prepare one of Virginia's recipes and serve it or take it to a party you will get raves from your guests. The smells and taste from her style of cooking fit what I am looking for when I cook. The results are produced with uncomplicated methods and technique. This is great food you can enjoy without hours of preparation. My three favorites (if I have to pick any) are the Coca Cola Glazed Ribs, the Pots de Creme, and the Green Beans Provencial. My family licks the cruets of the Pots de Creme until they are clean. This is Southern cooking that will enhance any meal experience. It's a great find for fans of good eating. Enjoy!

virginia Willis is a wonderful person and chef. I have known her personally for many years and have had her cater events for me before she got soooo famous. Her book is fabulous. Her attention to detail and wonderful recipes are a great way for her to share with us. Kimberly Young
