Will prove to be of immense interest to non-specialist general readers
From 1986 to 1991, first-generation America, mother, socialworker, teacher, community leader, writer, and naturalist Marion Dusoir Ennes wrote essays that were published as feature columns in the New York Hudson Valley newspaper 'The Independent'. Her keen
observations
and detailed descriptions are exceptional in that she based her commentaries on science and personal values without lapsing into naive sentimentality. Expertly edited by Howard Ennes, the best of those essays has been collected into "
Nature
's
Way
: Observations Of A
Good
Earthkeeper
" and made available to a much wider audience of appreciative readers far beyond the confines of the Hudson Valley. Of special note is that each reproduced article features a line drawing of the animal being described and discussed. Informed and informative, "Nature's Way" will prove to be of immense interest to non-specialist general readers with an interest in nature, wildlife, and environmental issues.

Marion Dusoir Ennes was fascinated by
nature's wonders
. During her childhood on a farm she found companionship with the local flora and fauna, and throughout her life she remained a devoted amateur naturalist. In 1986 Marion became editor of The Warbler, newsletter of the Alan Devoe Bird Club. Two years later, the publisher of The Independent Newspaper invited Marion to contribute an illustrated column titled "Nature's
Way
." Derived from her study of natural history at museums, environmental centers, animal sanctuaries, and by continual observation in the field, the column covered a wide range of wildlife and ecological topics, with an intriguing blend of scientific fact and insight. In 1991, in recognition of her work, the Columbia County Environmental Management Council gave Marion their "
Good Earthkeeping
Award." Marion's column continued for ten years, some 349 essays, written in the hope that we might open our eyes and our hearts to the other beings who share our world.
