INCREDIBLE!

Certainly the best new author I've read in a long time! I couldn't leave the book, started reading it on Friday night and finished it the same weekend. It was like watching a movie. Miguel Santana's narrative style is fresh and imaginative. This novel will become a classic. I can't wait for his next book!

Review- Cuando cantan los lagartos

The thing that I liked about this novel was the way that it captured the bitter-sweet reality of life. If you are looking for a happy fairytale, it's not for you. But if you want to recognize life's traumas, and heartbreaks along with its good moments and re-experience them in a poignant, beautiful and very imaginative context you will love this novel. Think _Out of Africa_ or _The lover_, but with more of a sense of humor, and tongue-in-cheek approach to depicting human affairs and lost love. I was also impressed with the way that it played on Gabriel Garci'a Ma'rquez's magical realism (Cien Annos de soledad/A Hundred Years of Solitude)- a glimpse into this writer's ironic side.
