Amusing thus Thought Provoking

Gerald George offers us a gem with this book. It addresses many of the issues concerning history museums and preservation that are such a large part of preservation debate today. The singular quality of this book lies in George's amusing and engaging tone. Rather than giving us a scholarly text or essay, George presents a series of stories, anecdotes, and snapshots that cleverly illustrate the present stage of evolution in the historic preservation world. The information is all the more accessible and memorable for its being told in such a delightful way.

Maybe George is trying to tell us something here. Perhaps he is presenting the book to us in this manner to reflect how current museum interpretation practice can benefit from a more inviting approach.

Thank you, Mr. George. It was a pleasure to read.

A Student of Preservation
