Still waiting for the DVD. . .and the two missing videos. . .

The video quality is a bit iffy on this Beggars Banquet VHS tape, a bit blurry and some color saturation, but still miles better than watching old home recordings off of MTV or VH1.

Two videos, both from the "Holy Smoke" album, are missing for unkown and frustrating reasons. "The Sweetest Drop" and "You're So Close" both of which are great videos (lots of frenetic Bauhaus era twitch-dancing by Murphy in "Sweetest Drop" and high quality cinematography in "So Close").

But I guess "beggars" can't be choosers. I was still happy as hell to finally have "most" of Mr. Murphy's videos in an official release. It's just that Beggars Banquet did such a great job on the two Bauhaus VHS and Laserdisc releases in the 80's ("Shadow of Light" and "Archive") that I was expecting a bit more.

However, with the recent "Unshattered" tour and second Bauhaus reunion tour perhaps Beggars will dig up the investment money to finally give us a proper DVD of ALL of Murphy's videos of the same calibre as the Love And Rockets DVD that includes the entire "Haunted Fishtank" (previously VHS only) as well as the videos produced after "Fishtank" came out and some cool audio tracks as well.
We can only hope.

Essential video for the collection

I agree with Philip from Austin about this video. I actualy met him at a Peter Murphy show the other night. While this is a great collection of videos it is far from complete which is why it's missing a star. As Philip had said it's missing the Sweetest Drop and You're So Close videos. I also think it's missing a couple other videos as well. I believe there were videos for Indigo Eyes and I Fall With Your Knofe but they are missing as well. What videos you do get are great and you even get the rare Dali's Car video for The Judgement Is The Mirror. The video opens with the classic video Cuts You Up. A Great video featuring Peter with platnum blonde hair. The Scarlet Thing In You is next and has always been a classic song to me. There really isn't a bad video on this collection but there are two versions of Final Sollution. One is the regular lp version and the other is a remix. The remix closes the video and is the weakest on the compilation which I would have been happy if they would have omitted that video. I don't know if I could pick a favorite video on here but if i must it would be either Cuts You Up or Hit Song. I strongly recomend this video to amy huge Peter Murphy fan who doesen't have it. It is essential for the collection.

The sweetest drop?

Peter Murphy makes such interesting videos and I have to admit when I found out that this was out, I logged on and bought it here. I have only one gripe...."The sweetest drop" video was missing and I am thinking a few others may be also. It was interesting to see the Dalis Car video, but I'd rather have seen the one or two omitted Murphy videos. To a true fan like myself, this video is a must!

oh yes.

my only complaint abut this video is that it's too short. it's a tease. i KNOW there are at least one or two other videos they could have put on here. okay, enough of that, let's focus on the positive side of things, shall we? right. well. first off, as anyone reading this knows, this man is not only ridiculously talented, but ridiculously good looking as well. now, i am not the screaming teenage fangirl type, mind you. there are only two occasions when i found myself in a twitching, salivating, almost epileptic-like frenzy; one, watching bauhaus' "ziggy stardust" video, and two, watching *this very video*. i would not steer you wrong, my friend. by all means, if you want to do yourself a favor, buy this video. yes, at probably not even 40 minutes length, it is quite a bit of a tease, but it's like eating one very tasty, almost orgasm-inducing swiss chocolate. even though it leaves you wanting more, it's still worth it. now go, my son, click away and type in that Visa number. you won't regret it.

Peter Murphy is God

Ok - so I'm biased. I love Peter so I obviously love this video. How can anybody not like Peter Murphy? Great video with great stuff, old and new. I finally found those hard to get old 80's videos of his and now I can die a happy girl!
