still a classic
Since I first saw this 20+ years ago, a "review" really isn't warranted. However, the fact that I got it so that my children, too, could enjoy it (and they did, very much) should speak for itself. After all, if a movie inspires a child (11, 8 and 5) to ask some difficult questions, then nothing could be more worth it.
Must see
I saw the original Broadway production as a child, and the movie captures the brilliant stage performance of thes two extraordinary actresses. The supporting cast is outstanding. It is hard to realize how young Patty Duke was when she played Helen Keller on Broadway. Exceptional production.

Classic
This movie is a must have. Inspirational. Reflects the hopes of a good teach. Gives everyone hope.
Classic
This is a wonderful movie. Acting is superb and overcomes the obvious dated cinematography. Some things are classics and endure, this is one such thing

Starring in what is quite possibly the most moving double performance ever recorded on film (Time), Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke are remarkable in their OscarĀ(r)-winning* portrayalsof Annie and Helen. Ennobling and uplifting (Variety), this inspirational story of courageand hope is one of the finest works of art in the history of motion pictures (Boxoffice). Locked in a frightening, lonely world of silence and darkness since infancy, 7-year-old Helen Keller has never seen the sky, heard her mother's voice or expressed her innermost feelings. ThenAnnie Sullivan, a 20-year-old teacher from Boston, arrives. Having just recently regained her own sight, the no-nonsense Annie reaches out to Helen through the power of touchthe only tool they have in commonand leads her bold pupil on a miraculous journey from fear and isolation to happiness and light. *1962: Actress (Bancroft); Supporting Actress (Duke)
