the miracle griddle

I purchased the pre-seasoned Lodge griddle because I have recently converted to a vegetarian diet and wanted the iron that is diffused in to the food from cast iron. To my amazement this griddle does everything. It makes great pancakes, eggs, pizza, and it does a wonderful job baking my sons breaded chicken in the oven. I have been making pizza from scratch for over 15 years and cast iron is the best surface to bake a tender high rise crust that rivals a pizza baked in a brick oven. Preheat the oven to 450 and bake from 12-15 minutes and you will have a crust that will be the envy of anyone who takes pride in homemade baked goods. Clean up of the griddle is a snap with hot water and a stiff bristle brush. I bought my brush from Target in the cleaning supplies section. Some day I will replace all my Calphalon with Cast Iron. I have purchased the Lodge Pizza pan as well as the 10" Dutch oven. I don't know how I have cooked for so many years using inferior products. Cast Iron it's what is cooking dinner tonight.

Griddle-Comal

The griddle (comal) was exactly perfect for cooking fresh tortillas .Heat is distributed evenly across the cooking surface. This allows for even cooking of tortillas. I am pleased with this comal.

Pre-Seasoned? Not good enough for pancakes!

I'm familar with cooking and caring for cast iron pans.

I believed the "Seasoned. Ready to Use .." tag which was attached to this pan, but on my second try at cooking pancakes the pan was left with a two quarter-sized spots where the seasoning had disappeared. Corrosive pancake batter? (It was from a box).

No big deal but you might do better to season it before use.

Griddle

Great griddle, pre-seasoned, ready to go out of the box. Works as well as teflon, a little non stick spray and throw on the eggs.
