The Pact

This book was meant for any child, teen, man or woman, who are living today without hope for a better future. The pact is about a brotherly commitment between friends to achieve their life long dreams. The reason that I use the word brotherly is because their pact was only as strong as the weakest of them. They became like family in support of one another and diligently worked together to achieve their dreams.

Phenomenal For Inner City Kids

This book served as an excellent Read - Aloud for my middle school students in grades 6 - 8. I read excerpts from the book about each person and the students were in awe about the struggles and obstacles that these young men had to overcome. It was dripping with real life situations and real life solutions.

All too often we hear about the dangers of male friendships, where peer pressure prevails over common sense. But rarely do we hear about another kind of male bonding, which, in the case of George Jenkins, Sampson Davis, and Rameck Hunt, led three boys to succeed beyond their wildest dreams.

Jenkins, Davis, and Hunt grew up in impoverished, broken families in Newark, New Jersey. Both Davis and Hunt served time in juvenile jails. But when Jenkins-who had a dream of becoming a dentist-learned about a program for minority students interested in careers in medicine, he convinced his two friends to apply and they vowed to get each other through. Despite the tremendous distractions and difficulties they faced, today two are doctors and one is a dentist.
