Excellent recorder

This unit is extremely well built. The dubbing feature is easy to use and my 11 years old son is doing well with it without using the manual. The editing from the video camera is also easy to perform but it will take getting used to it . The Dv link in the front is a great feature if you have a digital video camera like Digital-8 or mini DV. Recording from the cable or Sattelite is easy , but using the timer is somewhat complicted. Overall this machine compares well with the more expensive Panasonic and JVC. Definetley a great value for the money. The manual is difficult to follow but not as bad as many other recorders out there.

Pictur quality on play back is great and it is an excellent progressive DVD player if you have an HDTV

Good Value OK Performer

Everything seems to work well in this Unit so far with all Input/Output I could use on my 27".

Bought it because of the value ($101 refurb include shipping at ubid) and brand name and all the functions you need. (had a sanyo TV before and quite please for reliability)

Wish the start up time is faster (takes quite a while (20-30 sec) to scan the DVD drive every time you start the thing) and a more compatible remote (TV control only works for Sanyo TV). Size is another issue though cosmetically it looks nice. (fan sticking out from the rear) One more thing is that DVD it burned (only -R and -RW) doesn't work in some older DVD players (5 years old, works in another of my newer one)

Great value for the money

I've had this unit for more than a month now and have copied lots of old VHS tapes to DVD and it works great. It is fairly easy to use and the manual is understandable, but I've only needed the manual to find out about the more advanced features--all the basic stuff was easy to figure out without the manual.

I don't have it connected to an HDTV or a nice sound system, so I can't comment about the progressive scan or audio quality. I have taken the DVDs created as copies from tape and played them on my home theater system and the sound has transferred nicely.

All in all, for $130 it has met and exceeded my expectations.
