Prayer is Poetry

Let take excerpts from one prayer: "I love the light in your eyes, the smell of your hair, the sound of your voice.. I love the family we have created together. I love you" (page 51)

Naomi Levy has specific literal prayers, to help people who think are not poets, or have no desire to read a poem. A poem is what we can not express in words, yet we feel inside us.

Probably many prayers are the same as the Psalm "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust the name of Yahweh our God"

Naomi prayer book is for those who, trusted chariots and horses, but now are willing to look inside and discover there is Gd we can talk to directly

Unquestionably one of my favorite books of prayer poetry. contemporary. contemplative. resonates with all ages. excellent readings when doing pastoral care with others or when just spending quiet time alone.

I have bought this book and lent/gave it to many people. Check out the Thanksgiving prayer..so many prayers just speak to the common persons heart. Buy it and enjoy it!
