Excellent read~!
Rhonda Britten hit a soft spot for MANY women in
this book
, including myself! I was once trapped inside of 'my
body thoughts
' and needed freedom. With my diligent work and this book as one support, I broke through and got on with my
life
.
Rhonda Britten is a strong role model for us all!

Good exercises and examples
I like Rhonda, I looooooved Starting
Over
and wished I could be on the show. My friend and I worked on the exercises in the book, and suddenly I saw I wasn't "that" horrible. I'll never like my belly and inner thighs, but I appreciated my
body
for carrying me and functioning right. I recommend you see "The Real Dirty Dancing" while reading
this book
. It's a short documentary about 5 young Londoners taking burlesque classes -- and it's all about loving
your body
as it is.

Not a weight loss book!
This
is not a weight loss book, but it is a self-help book. You will be taken on a journey of self-love and self-acceptance. Rhonda presents simple strategies for accepting what you can not change and changing what you can. A great read with real stories about real people.
A decent effort
I do not watch TV, so I was not familiar with her work on "The Starting
Over House
" until I read
this book
. I had caught the show once or twice while traveling, so I quickly made the connection between the
life coach
I'd seen, and the author. Rhonda writes in a personal, easy-to-read style that makes her readers feel like she's sitting down with them over a skinny latte at the local Starbucks. She puts up no pretensions, and readily shares her less-than-glamorous personal history and struggles.
The strengths of this book are Rhonda's approachability and sound advice. Where it falls a bit short is I feel it tries to do too much at once. Rhonda's personal struggles are interspersed with those of the participants in The Starting Over House and the women who shared their feelings about their bodies for the photos at the beginning of each chapter. I think the book would have been stronger if she had stuck to one approach -- just her own stories, or just those of the clients she's helped. Instead, I felt a little like a pingpong ball, zipping between one story here and Rhonda's story there.
All that said, Rhonda's message is simple and clear: You can live in the NOW, or you can put off
your "real
life" until you lose five, ten, fifteen, or more pounds. The life in that future time is less important than your life in the here and now, so you may as well
get
moving.
Thank you, Rhonda, for sharing your story so honestly. You will help a lot of people.

Loving my body as it is!
This
book really helped me to work thru my
body issues
especially as I'm losing weight. I'm not as self-conscious of how I
look
or what I'm wearing or what do they think of me. It's so liberating!

?Do I
look
fat
in
this
?? It?s a nagging question that almost every woman asks herself?regardless of her size. There?s an epidemic of self-loathing among American women today. So what?s keeping so many women from feeling confident? Powerful? Sexy? For many women, the answer is, ?My
body
.?
We hate the shape of our bodies. We worry about cellulite. Sagging. Sex. As a
life coach
on the daytime reality show Starting
Over
, Britten has helped countless women befriend their bodies?first by facing and accepting what they see in the mirror, and then by empowering them to make healthier decisions about their weight. She?s heard from thousands more who write in to her Web site asking for advice, support, and guidance on how to raise their self-esteem, particularly as it relates to their bodies. She knows what it takes to choose to live a healthy lifestyle and to commit to change. But that doesn?t mean it?s always been easy for her to practice what she preaches. In Do I Look Fat in This? Rhonda shares her personal story of body confidence as well as the stories of many of the clients she has worked with to look beyond the scale, stop hating their bodies, and start loving themselves.
