not good enough

This unit belongs to the Elite series that pioneer began to sell around the year 2000, so it was more expensive than the regular cd recorders. In my case I purchased this item on january 2002 and I was surprised with the quality of sound, very crisp! remember this machine record at 24 bits by second but after 3 years of continous use, I noticed regular mistakes in the recorded cd's, first: the laser could not read the last songs, second: some songs showed unusual louded noises, three: some songs showed interruptions like cuts. So, I had to look for another devices to record my cd's eventually.

Just Plain Reliable!

I purchased the Pioneer PDR-W739 CD Recorder on April 16 of 2007 and it has performed very well. I won't go into the details of operating the unit (that's what the instructions are for, right?), but I will state a few positive and not so positive aspects of this recorder. Just load a CD/R in the right tray, determine what source you want to use (the unit's own 3-Tray CD player, or another digital or analog source), and start recording. It will insert a 2-second space between tracks if you want it to; set record level automatically (or manually if you prefer); and automatically finalize the disc (if so desired). Very easy to operate and makes crystal clear CDs! Two things I don't like: The three-tray CD bank is somewhat noisy and even kind of clunky-sounding (but works just fine), and you will need to try different brands of CD/Rs to find ones that don't cause errors. So far, the FUJI General Purpose CD/R (for computers and music) have performed flawlessly. Don't buy the Memorex Cool Colors Music CD/R, even though it is made specifically for music, it doesn't record reliably (you might only get three songs on a disc and it shows an error that cannot be overcome..believe me I've tried). Just try out a few different brands, determine which ones work the most reliably, and record away! You'll enjoy this CD Recorder!
