I only bought it for the reciever...

Works great. My Logitech Harmony One has this in it's database and picked up it great. But it wants to make the "Enter" Button in the center as Select, which is just wrong.

I actually haven't touched the remote but it felt very solid.

Very good PS3 solution

This dongle is a good workaround for the PS3. True, it cannot power-on the system, because the USB ports on the PS3 are not active when the console is turned off. However, you CAN shutdown the PS3 through the operating system (far left menu), so that's not an issue.

Bottom line, if you can live with the lack of PS3 power-on functionality on your universal remote, this product is a good choice. If you cannot, then go with the Sony PS3 bluetooth remote.

Great Harmony Solution

I purchased this a couple of days afer programming my new Logitech Harmony 880 universal remote (which is awesome, by the way). After making sure the Harmony was my universal solution, I opted to get this remote to program the Harmony for PS3 operation. It took a few minutes. Though it is listed as a device to add, I still had to teach my Harmony by stepping through all of the commands with the NYKO pointed at the Harmony.

In any case, it worked immediately, as advertised. I needed one quick fix assigning the "enter" function to the Harmony's "OK" button. It took a little thinking, but I find programing the harmony fun anyway!

No "power on" feature does not bother me since inserting a game, DVD, or CD powers it up anyway. For the power off, I will just have to grab the nearby wireless sixaxis controller. No big deal. Worth having a single (fully backlit) remote to operate playback.

Cheap, simple, get's it done.

The title says it all. A cool secondary feature is that it is really just an IR interface to the PS3, meaning you can use the dongle with any IR device...including you computer or Smart Phone ;)

Works great with my Harmony remote

I bought this remote for the usb IR reciever. Now, after a little tweaking, I can use my Harmony remote with my PS3. The wife loves having a real remote for watching movies.

Some people complain about not having a power button. I don't mind, I just leave my PS3 on.

Some people complain about not having access to the PS button or an eject button. Solution, just make sure you exit out of the last game you played so you can access the XMB with your remote. You can access the triangle key from the Harmony remote, giving you access to the eject feature.
