Great Page Turner

The Judas Strain is the first novel by James Rollins that I have read, and I plan to come back for more. He has done enough research in the areas of biology, history, and religion to create a plausible hypothesis that reads well in today's world. His heroes have enough believable strengths, though his villains, in my opinion, fall a little short of the mark in being truly evil. His writing is easy, and he breaks his book into short chapters like the old cliff-hangers that used to play in the movies of the 1940s and 1950s. I enjoy this style of writing because the reader is constantly changing between scenarios without getting bogged down in trying to remember who is who and what is happening.

The only area that I found somewhat difficult to work with was his secret government agency SIGMA, and the ever popular malevolent world-dominating force known as the GUILD. It's a bit of a throwback to Ian Fleming's bad guys known as SMERSH or SPECTRE. Clive Cussler's NUMA is believable because it's transparent with a good purpose though its personnel always seem to get into a heap of trouble. Other than that one area I found The Judas Strain highly entertaining and has made me want to read up on the travels of Marco Polo.

I believe that anybody who buys The Judas Strain will be highly entertained and even gain some knowledge regarding biology and histrory.

I read a ton of books, literally every single day i read and read.
This guy is one of the top 10 writers that i wait and wait for. I have read all his books and just think the writing style is great, the subject matter is always presented coherently, and the endings are good not always what I would have wanted but he is the writer!

As good as his rest

James Rollins is most consistent in his books. If anything they get better. He is right up there with Preston, DuBrul and Cussler

National Treasure competition! Great thrill ride.

This is my first James Rollins novel, and definitely not my last. This book was part National Treasure, part Indiana Jones. Loved it! The author's use of suspense and brink of disaster moments was thrilling, and this writer's style was intelligent yet easy to read. Some say it was a bit silly; I loved the occasional comedic phrase (it's partly why we all love Indiana Jones so much). I was impressed by the amount of factual medical, historical and biological data, as well as the detail of the international scene locations (having spent time in the Hagia Sophia, his descriptions were spot-on). The action never ended, even to the last page. Would LOVE to see this as a movie!

A Great Read

This was the first James Rollins book I have read and I loved it. It was fast paced, action packed, and was hard to put down once I started it. I will be picking up his other books to read in the order they were published as I devoured this one.
