This book will explain everything!!

I couldn't understand conservatives, and like everyone else could not define what they stood for, I concluded that it is simply an umbrella term for people looking for a candidate who will cater to their prejudices and fears, and that is the only definition that always applies to republican politicians, they simply have a knack for exploiting the current state of mind of the average suburban bigot,if people are "affeared" of change, why, they say, lets not make them afraid of everything, even policies that would help them, like shifting the tax burden to the rich or health reform, lets throw in abortion fears, and heck death panels, they have developed an entire industry of think tanks and networks that work tirelessly to mislead and screw the American public, the goal of course is to limit the power of the elected Government so they can, in their words, "drown it in a bathtub" and then of course hand us over to the corporations who will safely guide us and protect us from ever having rights, money or freedom again, they want to give away our social security to Wall Street bankers, bankrupt our nation buying oil from countries that have grown to loath us, and take away any hope of organized labor so workers can not effectively represent themselves or their families, whats so sad and shocking is that these Conservatives and the even more dim witted "independent" voters are all too happy to go along with this in the delusion that somehow this will lower their miniscule tax liability, when in fact all it will do is... well just look at the disastrous Bush administration, tax and spend, war, wall street gone mad, paranoia and acrimony at levels not seen since nixon, anyone blind to all that is truly brainwashed,

The light bulb went on...

I had been wondering why the Republican Party had become some negative lately, and this book, without malice or prejudice, states why in a perfectly clear fashion. Having been in the forefront of politics in turbulent times, Dean knows.

On the heels of his national bestseller Worse Than Watergate, John Dean takes a critical look at the current conservative movement

In Conservatives Without Conscience, John Dean places the conservative movement?s inner circle of leaders in the Republican Party under scrutiny. Dean finds their policies and mind- set to be fundamentally authoritarian, and as such, a danger to democracy. By examining the legacies of such old-line conservatives as J. Edgar Hoover, Spiro Agnew, and Phyllis Schlafly and of such current figures as Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich, and leaders of the Religious Right, Dean presents an alarming record of abuses of power. His trenchant analysis of how conservatism has lost its bearings serves as a chilling warning and a stirring inspiration to safeguard constitutional principles.
