I bought this 3 years ago the technology in LED lights has improved in quality and quantity. But for a pocket flashlight that never needs batteries it's pretty cool. I use it almost everyday and its works as good as day one. I would have preferred a rounder shape with more lights, since the design is flattish - the lights seem to line up in a row which give the light a wide disbursement but not a very tall or high up so you will have to end up moving it around in order to see in everything you need to in the dark. Works best for indoor tasks, behind equipment, dark sock drawers, closets, dark corners, when looking for something. If you forget it on, the lite goes out but the batteries are sealed and don't leak acid all over like conventional lights. It's durable and easy to crank for 20 seconds if you need a few minutes of illumination. Today I use LED lights in my shower-head that change color with the temperature of the water, on my bike spokes for crazy patterns at night and now in my HDTV. LED is here to stay.

Bright Lite

The only thing I wish this thing would do better is hold a brighter light. If you crank it while it's on, it produces a brighter light but as soon as you stop, it dims a bit. I prefer using a Petzel for a light but otherwise a great product for an emergency kit.

GREAT flashlight

I ordered two of these, one for me and one for my son. We like them so much, I ordered 3 more - one for downstairs, one for the car, and one for another family member who said "can you order another one for me?"

As others have said, when turned on first, all three LEDs are on, with a bright light. push the button again, and only one LED stays lit, for a dimmer light. Then push the button again, and it is off.

cranklite

Great price and delivery service. very happy. I own a crank lite sold under the Eveready brand name that I think is the best. I wanted to give all my family members one for Xmas, but I could not find the same one online so after reading the reviews I picked this cranklite. All in all they work very well, except that the light is not quite as bright as the Eveready. Every one loved their gift, and in the end that's what was important.

Works.

It's kinda heavy but I guess it's worth it. The different modes are nice to use and it's easy to crank up. It retains power for a pretty long time if you don't use it after cranking it. This will be my back-up to my back-up in my BOB.
