The Out-Of-Sync Child; Recognizing and Coping with Sensory Processing Disorder, Revised Edition
Every teacher and parent should have a copy of this book, I am learning so many things about this disorder. I was surprised to learn that this affects many children in some way.
For parents searching for answers!
No book can completely answer all the questions struggling parents have, but this one gives parents of suffering children several "ah-ha!" moments. You know something is not quite right, but you can't put your finger on it until you find explanations and like parents. This is a must have book if your child has been diagnosed with any sensory disorder. Also, we recently attended several seminars at a home school conferences given by doctor in Illinois who manages one of the Brain Balance Centers, you should definitely investigate into them, simply amazing. Great Book!
This book has been really helpful in understanding my 6 yr old. I wish I had known to look for years ago.
Good explanation but little help with what to actually do.
This book was very good with the explanation. It was sometimes hard to follow even with a science BS degree. Although it did a good job of explaining the potential areas of the disorder, it did little to actually help you learn to teach your child to deal with the disorder. If that is what you are looking for, then the sequel to this book is a much better investment.
